Geranium diseases

Geranium

It is highly recommended to get to know the ills that our plants can suffer in order to tackle the problems before they spread to more specimens in the garden. In fact, good gardeners know how to interpret the evils of your plants just by noticing a change in your usual appearance.

Today we will deal with a very popular plant in all homes since it is a perennial and easy to care for. We are talking about geranium and we will provide you with the necessary advice to treat them and prevent them from getting sick.

If the geranium leaves appear yellow spots, they are probably being attacked by a very harmful bacteria whose agent is xanthomonas campestris.

In this case, in addition to the aforementioned brown and concentric spots on the leaves, some rotting occurs, and the area of the nerves of the plant becomes black.

To solve it, you have to throw away the affected parts, change the soil and add a fertilizer rich in copper to the irrigation water.

Extreme temperatures cause their stems and leaves to turn reddish and the edges of the leaves to wrinkle.

To avoid this, the temperature must be controlled and the plant must not be exposed to too much heat or too cold.

Furthermore, the lack or excess watering or a lack of nutritive elements in its substrate can cause the leaves to turn yellow, so the frequency of irrigation should be adjusted according to the ambient temperature and fertilize if the plant is in the flowering period.

Lastly, if you notice tiny whiteflies fly off when you water or touch your plant, spray it with insecticide.
