The golden oak is a still very unknown tree, but incredibly beautiful. Over the years it gives a good shade, to the point that you can sit down leaning on its trunk and enjoy, for example, a good book or a picnic with friends.

Origin and characteristics
The golden oak, whose scientific name is Quercus alnifolia, it is an evergreen tree native to the Troodos Mountains in Cyprus. Reaches a height of up to 10 meters, but it is also seen as a bush of few meters. The leaves are simple, ovobate to suborbicular, 1,5-6cm long by 1-5cm wide, glabrous, dark green on the upper surface and tomentose golden or brown on the underside.
The flowers are unisexual: the male ones are yellow-green grouped at the tips of the branches, and the female ones can appear alone or in groups of 2-3. The fruit is a sub-cylindrical acorn 2-2.5cm long by 0,8-1,2cm wide.
What are their cares?

- Multiplication: by seeds in autumn. They need to spend some cold to be able to germinate.
- Rusticity: supports frosts down to -8ºC.
