Graptopetalum pentandrum

Graptopetalum pentandrum

Non-cacti succulents are wonderful: not only because they are, for the most part, harmless as they have no thorns, but also because they have really pretty leaves. If to that we add that there are some that are very easy to take care of, such as the Graptopetalum pentandrum, we already have everything so that we want to start a collection 😉.

This particular species is true that it may seem very common, but it has a great ornamental value that only grows as you realize how resistant it is. So don't hesitate to give it a try. Here is your file.

Origin and characteristics

Graptopetalum pentandrum

Our protagonist is a crass or succulent non-cactus plant native to Mexico, specifically from the state of Jalisco, whose scientific name is Graptopetalum pentandrum. It grows forming rosettes with a thin stem, less than 0,5cm, that reaches a maximum height of 20 centimeters. The leaves are triangular, fleshy, purple in color.

The flowers appear in slightly branched inflorescences of pale yellow color with red markings at the tips. It blooms in early spring.

What are their cares?
