How to care for parsley

Parsley

Today's leading herb is widely used in cooking, but it is also widely cultivated for its ornamental value. This time I'm going to teach you how to care for parsley, whether it is in a pot or if you are planting in your garden.

You will see that it is very simple. In addition, being of rapid growth, in a short time you will have a very interesting specimen.

Parsley

Parsley, whose scientific name is Petroselinum crispum, it is a biennial herb (that is, two years pass from the time the seed germinates until the plant dries) whose exact origin is not known, but in Asia and Europe it has been naturalized without problems, to the point that it appears on the list of indigenous herbalists. It is used all over the world as a condiment, but as I said before, it is an excellent ornamental plant, with a few very simple care. You do not believe me? So let us know the care you need:

  • Location: full sun or room with lots of (natural) light. It also adapts to areas that receive 4-5 hours of direct light a day, but the more they are, the more compact their growth will be.
  • Irrigation: It will depend on the weather, but in general it will have to be frequent. Ideally, do not wait for the substrate to dry completely; and if it is in the garden, about three times a week in summer and the rest of the year one or two every seven or ten days.
  • Fertilizer: If it is to be used for consumption, the ideal is to use organic and / or ecological compost, such as worm castings or horse manure. The dose will vary according to the size of the plant, but 10-20 grams each month will be sufficient.
  • Plagues and diseases: no dangerous pests are known. If the environment is very humid, be careful with snails, and if it is very dry with lobsters.

Parsley

For the rest, it is a very grateful plant, suitable for beginners.
