Our protagonist is a mushroom popularly known as minor quencher, and by the scientific name Chlorophyllum rhacodes (formerly Macrolepiota rhacodes) characterized mainly by having a hat up to 15 centimeters in diameter covered by grayish fibrous scales. In young specimens, its shape is almost spherical, but as it grows it acquires a flattened shape. The plates are white at first and more brownish later.
The foot, which has a maximum height of 15 centimeters, is smooth and light in color, being wider at the base. It has a ring, which is usually easily displaced. Its meat is white and soft, with a good taste and smell.
When does it appear and where does it live?
The minor damper lives in coniferous and hardwood forests, sprouting alongside these plants during spring or fall. So do not hesitate to visit these areas if you want to try it 😉.
How is it consumed?
Always after having cooked it, never raw. The foot is removed and the flattened hat is coated in flour and egg, with a little very hot oil in the pan. As a curiosity, you have to know that there are those who say that the taste is similar to that of meat or fish.
