Nasturtium flowers

Sometimes we see plants that would make you want to eat, not only because of the sweet smell they give off, but because of their texture or because of their beautiful flowers. However, not with all plants we can do this. Nasturtium is a plant that can satisfy those desire to eat plants.

It has beautiful flowers that can be orange or yellow and we can appreciate them from spring to autumn. It is an annual plant, it resists the cold although not at very low temperatures.

They are plants that can be planted as creepers or as climbers if they are well guided. They also look very good on balconies, as they can be Hanging, giving it a touch of color and joy. They can be planted both in pots and in the garden.

As I have already said, it is an edible plant in which both the flower and the leaf are eaten. It has a somewhat spicy flavor and can be made into a salad. It is a source of Vitamin C as well as being antibacterial. It is one of the few plants capable of producing a natural antibiotic substance. The leaves can be used as a poultice on wounds that will serve as a disinfectant. Another way to take it is as an infusion.

The fruit of the nasturtium appears when the flowers fall. They usually appear three at a time in each flower and are green. These fruits are dried and will be the seeds that are planted to reproduce the nasturtium, but they are also edible.

To eat the nasturtium seeds, they must be kept in a glass jar with vinegar, thus being a good substitute for capers.

It is a plant that does not require great care. He likes the sun very much, so he also wants a lot of water to hydrate himself. Faded flowers should also be removed so that new ones appear.
