How to prevent fungus in rose bush

Take care of your rose bush so that it does not have fungus

A healthy, cared for plant will be highly resistant to pests and diseases. And it is very difficult, if not practically impossible, for insects and / or microorganisms to harm it when its health is good. For all this, it is interesting to know how to prevent fungus in rose bush.

These fungus tenants they are one of the most dangerous, since normally when we detect them it is usually too late to recover the plant.

Locate your rose bush in full sun

Rose bush, placed in full sun

Shady environments favor fungi, so one way to prevent them in our rose bushes is placing them in an area exposed to the sun, outdoors. In this way, in addition, we will get them to produce a greater amount of flowers during almost the whole year, which will allow us to have the garden or patio full of life and color.

You do not wet leaves or flowers

The rose bush is a plant that needs a lot of water; yes, not as much as an aquatic. To avoid burning, or losing leaves and / or flowers prematurely never water from above, since if we do it the fungi will not take long to appear and damage it.

Control the risks

The frequency of irrigation should change throughout the year: while in summer we will have to water more since the land dries quickly, in winter we will have to water less on the contrary. Having these two "peaks" and knowing a little about the climate of our area, we can know more or less when to water depending on the season.

For example, where I live during the hottest season I water almost every day, but in the coldest I do it once a week or every ten days. As summer approaches I give them water more frequently, but when the winter season approaches the waterings become more spaced.

Fertilize from spring to late summer

Manure guano powder

So that the rosebush has much more strength, must be paid throughout the growing and flowering season. Depending on where you live, it can end in late summer or fall. If the weather is mild, it could flower even in winter, so you could also fertilize a little in that season.

We will use specific fertilizers for rose bushes that we will find for sale in the nurseries, or we will pay them with Organic fertilizersand guano.

With these tips, your rose bushes won't have to worry about fungus.

Hello. I've been fighting the black spot on the rose bush for a long time. I apply Mamboretá H fungicide (Fungoxan does not work for me) approximately every 20 days, after removing all the affected leaves and cleaning the pan of each one if possible. They have drip irrigation. Actually, you hardly ever have to water because here in summer it rains enough. The fact is that they are not completely cured. What I can do?

      Hello Maria.
When the environment is humid, fungi are difficult to eradicate.
But ... you can do one thing when you leave the summer behind (or if you have the plants in shade): get copper or sulfur powder. Pour about two tablespoons into 5 liters of water and water the rose bushes well over the top. I recommend a watering can and not a spray because the latter gets clogged right away.
Both copper and sulfur are very, very effective natural fungicides.
      A greeting.
