The smallest flower in the world

As you must already know and surely seen on occasion, on our planet there are very strange and rare species of plants and flowers. It is for this reason that today we bring you a flower, considered the smallest flower in the world. We are talking about the Wolffia angusta, also known as the Australian duckweed.

The Angusta Wolffia, is a genus of 9 to 11 species that includes different plants and smaller flowers on planet earth. These plants are aquatic plants that resemble cornmeal crumbs floating in water. They are circular in shape, but the angusta is the narrowest of all, it measures between 0,6 and 0,9 millimeters in length and 0,2 and 0,5 millimeters in width, really small, isn't it?

This plant is characterized, in addition to being very small, by its intense green color, with darker edges, and its shiny texture as if it were wet all the time. As we already mentioned it is a floating aquatic plant, but it lacks roots, and in addition to developing the smallest flower in the world, it also produces the smallest fruits that exist. These, which are edible, are orange in color, shaped like figs.

Note that these plants can be adapt to any type of light and they are not at all demanding with the type of water where we put them, so they require minimal care and little attention. For this reason, it is one of the easiest plants to maintain and it spreads very quickly. If you have it at home, the only thing we recommend is that you remove the excess plants to ensure that they receive the necessary light.
