It is a annual herbaceous with pubescent stems known as abreojos, farrerola, jopito, major free foot, trebolillo, narrow leaf clover or clover. Native to southern Europe, it is easily found in the Iberian Peninsula, growing in soils that are rather acidic and poor in nitrogen.

Reaches a height of up to 50 centimeters, and its stems sprout petiolate leaves composed of three leaflets 2-8cm long by 2-4mm wide. The flowers, which sprout in early summer, are grouped in isolated heads, and are pink. The fruit appears wrapped by the calyx.
