Origin and characteristics
Our protagonist is an endemic evergreen tree from Madeira, Azores and the Canary Islands whose scientific name is Persea indicates. It is popularly known as viñátigo, and reaches a height of 20 meters. As we said, it develops a more or less wide crown, formed by large and simple green leaves.

- Location: outdoors, in full sun or in semi-shade.
- Earth: grows in clay-loam soils and in neutral-acid soils.
- Irrigation: it has to be watered 3-4 times a week in summer, and every 4-5 days the rest of the year.
- Subscriber: from spring to summer it must be paid with organic fertilizers, such as guano, compost, herbivorous animal manure u others.
- Multiplication: by seeds in spring. Direct sowing in hotbed (flowerpot, milk container, seedling tray ...) with universal cultivation substrate. If all goes well, they will germinate in 1-2 months.
- Rusticity: withstands cold and frosts down to -1ºC.
