What to do with the Fir after Christmas?

Abeto

Unfortunately, it had to happen; the day had to come when Christmas was over. Children (and not so children) have already enjoyed their gifts of Kings, and our beloved Fir (or false Fir), which has accompanied us during these lovely days, begins to clash in the home environment.

What to do then? Well, we can do several things, all of them explained in detail in this article, always thinking of the best for both conifer, as for the family.

That you have a garden

So, don't hesitate! Spruce is an ideal conifer for the garden, especially for temperate climates. We will have to choose a sunny location, make a deep hole (about 50x50cm), add black peat, place our plant indoors, add more substrate, and finally water abundantly.

Spruce is very slow growing, but for next Christmas, you and your family you can decorate it also with Christmas objects. And instead of having a Fir tree at home, you will have one that will dress the garden in a different way.

Picea abies

In the photo above you can see a false fir, whose scientific name is Picea abies. It grows in such a way that it is very reminiscent of a Spruce, which is why it is called that, false spruce. As a curious fact to say that the gender of Spruces were one of the first to appear on the face of the Earth. Currently they can be found living with large conifers, such as the Sequoya. It is widely used as a Christmas tree.

It seems to me that we have no place to have it ...

In that case the best thing is that you resort to municipal services collection of Christmas trees. In the best of cases, they will be planted in forests, although many others will end up being compost.

Anyway, they will always be tried to give them a new useful life.
